Everybody hum “Happy Birthday” to the Prince of Wales!

We sincerely hope the Royal Family will forgive yesterday’s oversight, but the Howdygram forgot to wish Prince Charles a very happy birthday as he enters his golden years.
Chuck is officially 66 years old now, and in honor of his advancing age it may interest you to know that he possesses more talents and accomplishments than you ever would have guessed. In short, the Prince of Wales does a whole lot more than wave, wear great hats and eat caviar sandwiches, something the Brits probably know but Americans do NOT. For instance ...
  • In 1975 Prince Charles became a member of the Magic Circle, a British society dedicated to endorsing and extolling the magical arts after passing an audition with the ancient “cup and balls” trick.
  • He wrote a children’s book called “The Old Man of Lochnagar” that was published in 1980. It was originally written for his younger brothers, Prince Edward and Prince Andrew.
  • Prince Charles is an avid artist and enjoys watercolor painting, a talent shared with Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, The Duke of Edinburgh and Prince Andrew. Who knew? Charles frequently donates lithographs of his work to charity auctions; others sell for £5,000 or more. All proceeds are donated.
  • The Prince of Wales is passionate about organic farming. In 1986 he converted the 900 acres of Home Farm estate to organic farming.
  • Barrogill, a blended malt whisky named after Barrogill Castle in Scotland, was crafted from a selection of Highland malts chosen by the Prince. Charles also painted the watercolor of the castle that appears on the bottle’s label.
  • An environmentalist, Prince Charles converted his vintage Aston Martin automobile to run on bioethanol fuel made from surplus English wine. He has also converted his other cars, including a Jaguar and an Audi, to run on biodiesel made from vegetable oil.
  • One of the titles endowed on Prince Charles is the Earl of Carrick. He signs some personal correspondence with the name “Carrick” his watercolor paintings as “AG Carrick.”
  • Poundbury, an experimental new town on the outskirts of Dorchester, is Prince Charles’ invention. Built on land owned by the Duchy of Cornwall, it aims to provide high quality living with a combination of traditional architecture and modern town planning. The town will be completed by 2025.
  • Prince Charles has served in both the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force and became a qualified pilot at 19 years old.
  • The Prince became heir-apparent in 1952 and will wait longer to take the throne than any monarch before him. When Charles does finally become king he’ll break another record as the oldest person to be crowned in British history. Holy shit!
The information above was borrowed (appreciatively) from a swell article on MSN.com.

Incidentally, guys, you can snag yourself a hardcover copy of Prince Charles’ official book of watercolors on Amazon for 1¢. I ordered mine about half an hour ago and I’m so damn excited I can hardly stand it. (In case you didn’t already know, I’m a huge fan of the royals. But don’t ask me to explain this.)

News flash. WE’RE EXPECTING SNOW FLURRIES TOMORROW. This is a very large deal in Texas and requires an all-caps announcement. Shalom, take a hike and have a nice day!
