My life is certainly a whirlwind of fun and frivolity, isn’t it?

Sam and I had a rather blah Sunday. He’s been bored and cranky from the triple-digit heat — and the fact that you can’t go anywhere that involves parking your car in the sun — and I’m feeling achy and crappy even though we enjoyed a nice little bowl of chili for dinner (Sam and I always love a nice little bowl of chili) and watched one of our most cherished classic movies, Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn in The African Queen (1950), which we hadn’t seen for an awfully long time. Rather than delete The African Queen, though, I think I’ll save it in the “Keepers” folder on our DVR because I don’t want to wait another 10 years before I see it again.

For your possible interest I’ve got about 200 favorite movies on our DVR stored in a variety of folders, titled “Keepers,” “Sleeping Movies,” “Musicals,” “SciFi,” “Andy Hard-on” (the entire Andy Hardy series starring Mickey Rooney), “Day/Kaye” (Doris Day and Danny Kaye), “Powell/Loy” (William Powell and Myrna Loy), “Jimmy Stewart,” “Mysteries” and “Christmas.”

Thank you.

Wow, check out today’s list of free fonts! I’ve got two huge font bundles for you (about 75 fonts in each) plus a couple of excellent layering fonts (“Highflier” and “Rocaie”) that include all kinds of exciting options. Download links will appear after the graphic in case you want any or all of these for yourself.

A couple of days ago I treated myself to some really beautiful high-resolution background textures on Etsy.com to use for my creative projects … a collection of 100 Shimmer Glitter Textures and a collection of Glitter Raindrop Overlays in 16 jewel-tone colors. This shit is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS, people, and packed with so much inspiration that I can’t wait to start working on a very large pile of projects for The Howdygram Store — my marketplace on Zazzle.com — including new holiday greeting card designs, Christmas postcards, new luggage tags and a ton of ritzy iPhone cases! I’ll try not to be an over-achiever, however, because I still haven’t made a dent uploading all the artwork for my last 48 greeting cards and 17 mug designs. Sheesh.

The two collections pictured above only cost $1.79 each. That’s a lot of inspiration for very little money, isn’t it? Here’s a ritzy example of an aqua Shimmer Glitter texture in action. Pretty … am I right?

It’s 12:42 a.m., the wee hours of Tuesday morning, and I just finished watching a fine movie … Trumbo (2015) starring Bryan Cranston, Diane Lane and Helen Mirren. It’s the true story of Hollywood’s top screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, who was blacklisted and imprisoned during the 1950s for his progressive (i.e., Communist) political beliefs. If you’re not familiar with this period of American history, you really need to see this film.

In other news … today is EAT AND BE HAPPY DAY at Howdygram headquarters! We had another amazingly excellent day in the stock market yesterday, so Sam said he’d go to Scotty P’s (his favorite hamburger joint) for lunch today, and I can order myself a treat from China City … specifically, Steamed Dumplings, a container of chili sauce and a large Hot And Sour Soup. Yay!

Scotty P’s is probably Sam’s favorite restaurant here in Texas, and his go-to menu items are always the Hatch Chile Burger (hatch chiles, pepper jack cheese and onion strings) with a side order of their house made hand-battered onion rings.

I used to love Scotty P’s just as much as Sam does, but there isn’t a location near Howdygram headquarters and the food doesn’t “travel” very well across town. Sam eats at the restaurant at Firewheel Mall in north Garland, which is maybe a 35-minute drive. (Onion rings to-go can get seriously soggy in 35 minutes.)

Inquiring minds want to know what’s happening this week, so here y’all go …

TUESDAY. Saw my hospice L.V.N., Leslie, this afternoon for a weekly checkup. My oxygen level was fine (96%), my temperature was fine (97.4°), and my heart rate was fine (73). My blood pressure, however, was slightly elevated (139/74) due to coughing up a lung from allergies and a post-nasal drip. Also … Sam has an appointment with the hospice chaplain tonight at 7:30 p.m. Typically they sit in the living room and mutter to each other while I lie in the family room watching “Bar Rescue” reruns.

WEDNESDAY. My C.N.A. will be here at 10:30 for a routine bathing and hygiene session, and sometime around 5 p.m. I’ll ask Sam to pick up an order for me from China City because we had to postpone Tuesday’s Eat and Be Happy Day.

THURSDAY. Most likely, Sam will finally get his hatch chile burger from Scotty P’s today.

FRIDAY. I’ve got another bathing and hygiene appointment this morning with my hospice C.N.A.

My life is certainly a whirlwind of fun and frivolity, isn’t it?

I have an urge to design some iPhone cases now. Thank you for reading this, and please remember the Alamo for me because I’ll be busy for a while.
