We’re awarding our five-chopper rating to Betty Crocker’s Mug Treats Cinnamon Rolls.

I was hoping to begin this post with “good morning,” but since it’s already after 11 p.m. there’s really no point bothering with a meaningless greeting. It was, however, a productive day hereat Howdygram headquarters! Sam went to the mall after lunch to shop for that elusive jeans belt he wants for his trip to California next week, and when he got home I asked him to help me sit up for a while at my computer workstation. Unfortunately, because [URGENT HEALTH ALERT] I’m unable to walk any more, Sam has to whisk the chaise away from behind me as soon as I’m on my feet and replace it with the bench I use when I sit at my computer … and apparently he’s even made a scientific study of exactly how long it takes to rearrange each piece of furniture with minimum disruption so I won’t have to stand any longer than absolutely necessary. I’ve never felt more pathetic in my entire life, and Sam has never been more wonderful. Is my man magnificent, or what?!

Please allow me to present a tasty midnight buffet of FREE FONTS for your possible enjoyment! We’ve got a little of everything here … adorable scripts (such as “Ingrid Darling” and “Send Flowers”), goofy hand-drawn display fonts (“Pumpkins Candles,” “Saboteur” and “School Haze”), and other interesting fonts like “Freshy” and “Tapestry.”

Nearly all of tonight’s fonts are drawn from a pair of very juicy bundles. These include “Bobbles” through “Tingler” — the Holy Craft Bundle — in the left column, and “Ingrid Darling” through “RU Serius” — the Smorgasbord Bundle — in the right column. You’ll find download links below the graphic. Enjoy!

One quick side note. The fonts in the Smorgasbord Bundle are all from type designer Rob Leuschke ... and he’s been a favorite of mine for a very long time. Individually Leuschke’s fonts sell online for about $29 each, and the Smorgasbord Bundle of 17 fonts is available on MyFonts.com for only $425. I definitely think you should grab it here for free, don’t you?!

Thought you might like to see the handy duffel I ordered a couple of days ago from Amazon. I needed a piece of “luggage” for my upcoming nursing home excursion … because Sam is taking the smallest piece of our softside luggage set to California. This duffel actually does the trick quite nicely as there’s plenty of room for: 1) three clean nighties; 2) all my meds in a big Ziploc bag; 3) the power cords for my iPhone and laptop; and 4) a nice new white extension cord. Incidentally … ONLY SEVEN DAYS TO GO! I guess it’s needless to say I’ve never moved into a nursing home before. I figure it’s like a visit to a regular hospital except everybody’s really old. (I’m trying to view the entire experience as a big adventure. Stay tuned.)

Oy. My hospice social worker just sent a few shockwaves through Howdygram headquarters. Apparently arrangements for my nursing home respite have changed, big time … instead of a ritzy room at The Villages of Lake Highlands in Dallas, I’ll be going to ROYSE CITY MEDICAL LODGE, which is way out in the tumbleweed boondocks — cattle country — about 20 miles northwest of Mesquite near Lake Tawakoni. I’m a little freaked out right now, people. I hadn’t planned on this, and neither had Sam!

I did a little online research about Royse City Medical Lodge. They have no website (seriously!) but I came across a few reviews — all positive except for one on Yelp about the food — and the following four photos:

Front entrance of Royse City Medical Lodge. Its out in the middle of nowhere, guys.
Another exterior shot. Nice for weddings or 90th birthday parties.
The main dining hall and recreation center.
A peek at Royse City Medical Lodge’s monthly rock festival.

Show of hands! Have you tried any of these intriguing Betty Crocker Mug Treats products? I never heard of them before ... until a few days ago on Wal-Mart’s website when I was doing a search for something else entirely. These look fantastic, and I ordered a box of the Cinnamon Roll flavor, which arrived yesterday. I’m not going to sweat the sugar or the carbs on this, people, because sometimes a girl wants what she wants, you know?!

Therefore, Sam nuked a Mug Treats Cinnamon Roll for me tonight after dinner and I’m here to tell you that it’s THOROUGHLY WONDERFUL. It’s hot and steamy and loaded with cinnamon right out of the microwave … and then you get to squish a little packet of white melty icing on top. It couldn’t possibly get better than this! I haven’t had a hot cinnamon roll in at least 15 years probably. Therefore I’m proud to award Betty Crocker’s Mug Treats Cinnamon Rolls with our five-chopper rating. Woo-hoo!
