Here’s a short list of Howdygram-approved movies coming up on TCM.

Howdy-do from Howdygram headquarters! Sam and I just finished watching one of my favorite screwball comedies from the 1930s, Merrily We Live (1938) starring Constance Bennett, Billie Burke and Brian Aherne.

I don’t know whether or not you’ve ever seen MERRILY WE LIVE, but there are two brilliant scenes that make me laugh out loud every time I see them.

First, there’s a scene where Mr. Kilbourne (played by Clarence Kolb) comes home late at night drunk and tries to sneak up the stairs quietly so he can go to bed without waking anybody.

Second, there’s a scene near the end of the movie when the Kilbournes mistakenly believe that their chauffeur, Rawlins (Brian Aherne), was killed in a car wreck. All the women in the household — Mrs. Kilbourne (Billie Burke), the two daughters (Constance Bennett, Bonita Granville), the cook, the upstairs maid, etc. — are screaming, sobbing and fainting right and left, and poor, hapless Mr. Kilbourne is trying his best to get smelling salts from the kitchen. This is some of the funniest shit I’ve ever seen on film. You can WATCH IT HERE on YouTube.

I’ve got a grocery update for you! Sam made a quick stop at Wal-Mart yesterday for the items that were out of stock from our pick-up order the day before: 1) a package of six fresh-baked sub rolls; and 2) McCormick’s Au Jus Gravy mix.

Gloriosky, hallelujah and holy crap … Sam found both items, and I was finally able to fulfill my FRENCH DIP SANDWICH FANTASY for lunch. Woo-hoo!

However, even though the sandwich was seriously good, my deceased taste buds definitely made it somewhat less good than years gone by. I think the overall flavor of the sliced beef was slightly weird. But I still want another French dip for lunch tomorrow, anyway, if that’s okay with you.

Another small herd of free fonts! This time I’ve got three scripts, one rounded sans serif (“Promo”) with nine weights, and two very cool layered fonts, “Rosttel” and “Youther,” the latter also being an all-caps font that will look terrific on — and gets me exciting about designing more — greeting cards for The Howdygram Store.

Know what? There was a time a few months ago when I honestly never thought I’d live long enough to see Donald Trump impeached by the House of Representatives.

I was wrong.

The House vote yesterday was monumental and historic … and I was here to see it happen! I could probably die now with a smile on my face, except part of me also wants to see Trump lose his trial in the Senate and get his sorry ass kicked out of office. I just don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to hang on. Life is getting harder and harder for me, underscored these days by very low blood pressure numbers — i.e., 88/40 — and eating very little food because most of it tastes like TOTAL CRAP.

In any event, the Democrats in the House of Representatives made me excruciatingly happy this week. Thank you, Nancy Pelosi!

For your possible interest I’ve decided to post some excellent Howdygram-approved movies on TCM during the next few days. You might want to program your DVR to record all of these!

I think I want Sam to make me some canned tomato soup because I’m hungry and don’t know what else to eat at 2:45 in the morning. We also have frozen corn dogs that sound pretty good, too, especially with Grey Poupon mustard. I love mustard! Therefore, if I’m still hungry after I finish my tomato soup I might request one corn dog. Sam is always good to me.

Thank you for reading this. I want to upload more greeting card designs to The Howdygram Store after my snack. I am also trying hard to remember the Alamo.
