Friday has been moving along quickly due to an over-abundance of unexpected sleep.

Hope everybody is having a pleasant day-after-Christmas … because I’m NOT. (Get ready for another kill-joy Howdygram post.) It’s 10:24 p.m., Sam went to bed more than an hour ago, and I’m trying to choke down a Stouffer’s frozen dinner that includes a rubbery breaded chicken patty, tasteless mashed potatoes and beige sauce. Not good. There is NO FLAVOR WHATSOEVER — even with too much salt and pepper — but I’m positive it’s not really Stouffer’s fault. I have to blame this on my shitty dead taste buds. (I’ve had Stouffer’s frozen chicken dinners before and never have any complaints.)

Yes, I’ve got more free fonts for you tonight! This is a versatile list that features several amazing scripts with hundreds of curlicues and swashy options (“Sugar Cane,” “Groenly,” “Marioline Barnard,” “Rhinatta”), several fun display fonts (“Graveyard,” “Riang Riung,” “Chickybom,” “Title Fight”), three layered fonts with extruded shadows (“Groenly,” “Ghoust,” “Pop Sweet”) and three dingbat fonts that I can’t wait to use for greeting card designs (for The Howdygram Store). In case you’re interested, I’m really excited about “Rhinatta.” It’s stunning, isn’t it?!

You’ll find download links under the font list. If you want “Sugar Cane” you’ll have to request it directly from me via email. Thank you.

Time marches on! It’s Friday morning now, 10:59 a.m., and I woke up about an hour ago, just a few minutes before my hospice C.N.A. showed up for a routine bath and hygiene session. The good news is … my pressure sores have healed up! (Thank God. That’s one less miserable thing to worry about.) Woo-hoo!

About five minutes after Leticia left we had a visit from my hospice L.V.N., Sharon, to check my vital signs and find out if anything is going on here. Sam is always prepared with observations and information that I forget (or don’t notice), such as my constantly low blood pressure (today, 88/55), my continuing weight loss (probably 200+ pounds by now), and the fact that I sleep all the time, eat almost nothing, and my skin has an unusual pallor to it. Other than that, everything here is peachy-keen!

Sam just left to pick up a small grocery order from Wal-Mart. This time I’m pleased to report that nothing was out of stock. In case you’re interested, my order included all of the following:
  • Hostess Cherry Fruit Pie
  • Great Value Seasoned Wedge Potatoes
  • La Choi Chow Mein Noodles
  • Bush Country Style Baked Beans (2)
  • Great Value Sugar-Free Sweet Tea (2 gallons)
  • Birds Eye Steam Fresh Brussels Sprouts
  • Chef Boyardee Beefaroni
  • Chef Boyardee Beef Ravioli
  • Halo Top Rainbow Swirl Sherbet Sugar-Free Ice Cream (1 pint)
  • Deli Macaroni Salad
  • Banquet Frozen Chicken Pot Pie (6)
  • Carl Buddig Chicken Lunch Meat (2)
Yes, I really do eat Brussels sprouts. I love them. I always make Sam add about two minutes to the “steam” time (in the microwave) to make sure the veggies are extra-soft, and then I use zero-calorie I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter spray and a dash of Lawry’s seasoned salt. That’s absolute PERFECTION, boys and girls!

Friday has been moving along quickly due to an over-abundance of unexpected sleep today. Every time I casually close my eyes for a 15-minute nap it turns into NINE OR TEN FUCKING HOURS and I’ve lost another whole day. For instance, I typed that last paragraph about Brussels sprouts at about 11:15 this morning, and the next time I glanced at the clock it was 8:50 p.m. (Holy shit.)

Right now Sam and I are watching a cute movie … Support Your Local Sheriff (1969) starring James Garner, Joan Hackett, Bruce Dern, Walter Brennan and Harry Morgan. Hilarious! We get a huge kick out of this one, especially Bruce Dern as Joe Danby. However, Sam is falling asleep as I write this, and as soon as he’s unconscious I’ll switch movies because I have a hankerin’ to see The Razor’s Edge (1946) again. It’s a fabulous drama starring Gene Tierney, Tyrone Power, Clifton Webb, Anne Baxter, John Payne and Herbert Marshall, based on the book by W. Somerset Maugham. I first saw The Razor’s Edge about a year ago and fell in love with it. Now it’s stored on our DVR and I watch it at least once a month. (The musical score is absolutely breathtaking.)

Thank you for reading this. Many, many smooches to you and yours.
