Hello and a very happy Saturday morning from the pleasant people here at Howdygram headquarters. (Okay ... it’s actually just Sam and me.) As I write this post my significant other is preparing for a junket to Costco for an iPhone charger because he can’t find the one he took to Seattle earlier in the week, and I’m deciding whether or not to place an order with Prime Now, Amazon’s amazing new FREE ONE-HOUR DELIVERY service for thousands of swell products including groceries, dairy, pudding and Amy’s organic frozen pizza rolls. Woo hoo!
Lately we’ve had deceased celebrities all over the damn place ... and already I’ve got another one for you! This time it’s Alan Young, 96, the well-known comedian, voice-over artist and supporting actor whose biggest hit was a six-year TV sitcom co-starring with a talking horse, “Mister Ed,” which ran on CBS from 1961 to 1966. He also had a nice juicy part as Filby in The Time Machine (1960) starring Rod Taylor.
Throughout the years Young guest-starred on lots of popular TV shows such as “Murder She Wrote,” “The Love Boat,” “Coach,” “St. Elsewhere” and “E.R.” Voice credits include several Disney films as Scrooge McDuck, Duck Tales, The Great Mouse Detective, Mickey’s Christmas Carol, Goofy’s First Love, a Smurf and “The New Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo Show.”
Young was actually really old and died at the Motion Picture & Television Home in Woodland Hills, California, where he had been drooling for four years.
More smartphone cases! The Howdygram Store is pleased to introduce a set of seriously chic colorblock cases in six color combinations — pink, seaglass, olive, yellow, crimson and natural — plus a bunch of photorealistic “edibles” that include jelly beans, gummi bears, sprinkles, candy corn, sugared hard candies, orange slices, a Chicago-style hot dog with “the works” and ice cold beer! All of our cases are available for iPhones and Samsung Galaxies.
Upcoming projects will include seashore-themed smartphone cases and several additional monogrammed styles, matching passport holders, luggage tags and checkbook covers, more products for my bridal category and a bunch of greeting cards. This will sound weird — especially since I’m retired and heavily medicated — but I wish there were more hours in the day. I don’t have enough time for creative activities in addition to naps, meals and writing the Howdygram. Life can be challenging!
I think I need more meds and a nap. Thank you for reading this. (If you play your cards right I might be back later.)
