Happy Wednesday night from Howdygram headquarters, y’all. I just found out that we’re expecting another run of heavy rain — yep, more rain! — starting overnight tonight and stretching through the three-day Memorial Day weekend as indicated by the Weather.com forecast posted below.
For your possible interest here are a couple of photos of the flooding here in North Texas. Our creeks, rivers, lakes and reservoirs are all beyond flood stage now and we’re expecting at least four more inches of rain through Monday. Oy, enough already. ENOUGH.
We had quite an impressive haul here today from UPS, who delivered packages from Wal-Mart, Amazon and Netrition ... three of my favorite Internet shopping destinations! Today’s treasures included six squeezy jars of sugar-free Mt. Olive relish, a case of Chef Boyardee Beefaroni in little microwave tubs, cashews for Sam and a million bottles of Nivea body wash in their most exquisite florals.
My new water hyacinth bins were delivered today, too, from The Container Store.
These are really large storage baskets — measuring 17½" x 12" x 8" — that will hold miscellaneous whatnots and pantry overflow on a new black metal étagère in the kitchen after we’re done with our cabinet refacing project. Which is the perfect segue ...
The big day is June 1, everybody. That’s the day Kitchen Solvers will be here to start refacing our cabinets! There’s a shitload of work to do in advance, though. We have to empty every cabinet and drawer, clear off the counters and appliances, and remove the center island cart. Sam is hoping to get everything packed up on Memorial Day weekend. (I’ll be on hand to supervise.)
In case you don’t remember what kind of cabinets we’re getting, here you go. We ordered the “Hawthorne” style in cherry wood with a chestnut finish and licorice glaze plus gorgeous black hardware. I’m so excited I might have a brain hemorrhage!
Oy, it’s late. I need a shower, lots of food and a movie! Thank you for reading this.
