Everybody knows it’s against the law to eat Greek olives without bread.

Mind if I whine for a few minutes? During the last couple of weeks I’ve had far too many diabetic hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) episodes. I know my symptoms well: 1) I get sweaty and clammy; 2) I’m hot; 3) my skin feels like I’m burning up with fever; 4) I feel dizzy and lightheaded; 5) my blood pressure gets very high; 6) I think I’m going to faint; 7) I have the “shakes”; and 8) I crave sugar. (Symptoms #2, #3 and #5 are new to the list.)

My most recent hypoglycemic events were yesterday and today, although today’s was the worst of them all … and thank God that Sam was around to help me. He draped a cold rag on my head and brought me Otter Pops from the freezer. I needed the ice, I needed the fluids and I needed the sugar!

I really don’t know what’s triggering all this, but I’m guessing it’s the timing of my mealtime insulin injections. I’m supposed to inject Humulin R about 30 minutes before a meal and base the dose on how many carbs I expect to eat. A couple of years ago, though, I had to make an adjustment to this. Because I frequently have difficulty swallowing and digesting food, I’d have to STOP EATING after one or two bites and (of course) wind up with low blood sugar as the result. So I switched my injection to after a meal … which had been working beautifully, until NOW.

I’m freaking out about this. Apparently my overall health is so fragile these days that a few more simple hypoglycemic episodes could probably KILL me.

I’ve been busy uploading new mug designs to The Howdygram Store this weekend. Only 10 more to go  … there are 240 in total now! For your possible interest please take a look below for four of my latest designs. Click here to shop for mugs.

As soon as I finish uploading my last 10 mug designs I’ll get back to expanding my greeting card collection. I’ve got ideas and artwork for about 35 new cards, and one of these days I also want to expand my collections of throw pillows, mason jars and night lights. Stay tuned!

I’ve got four more free fonts for you tonight … they include two scripts (“Breakfast” and “Hayhills”), a collegiate slab serif (“Manti”) and a soft display font (“Chatter”) with some lovely, feminine letterforms. Download links will appear after the font list. Enjoy yourself.

So … it’s time once again to announce my latest Demented Flavor Cravings! Included in my next online grocery order with Wal-Mart, probably sometime this week, I want a jar of pitted kalamata olives and a package of soft Greek pita bread, because everybody knows it’s against the law to eat Greek olives without bread. (My first husband’s family taught me that. Among other things.)

In addition to bread and olives I can’t wait to order the ingredients for a simple recipe I found online … FAKE RICE PUDDING made with sugar-free vanilla pudding, a bag of Miracle Rice and a few sprinkles of powdered cinnamon! This is so exciting I might have a brain hemhorrage … RICE PUDDING WITH PRACTIALLY ZERO CARBS! Woo-hoo!

It’s getting late … time for me take a fistfull of bedtime prescriptions, inject my overnight insulin, and watch a nice “sleeping movie.” Tonight I think I’d like to see something with James Stewart, maybe Of Human Hearts (1938) with Walter Huston and Beulah Bondi, or Destry Rides Again (1939) with Marlene Dietrich. I might even try to lure Sam away from the study to watch one of these with me!

Thank you for reading this. Please remember the Alamo so I won’t have to, okay?
