Sam taught me how to meditate last night. I married a genius!

Happy Wednesday morning from Howdygram headquarters. It’s almost 4 a.m. and I’m pleased to report that I feel MUCH, MUCH BETTER than I did yesterday, when I stayed awake all night gagging and choking on a fistful of bedtime prescription medications that dissolved in my throat after I fell asleep unexpectedly … a thoroughly sickening “stew” of Gabapentin Trazodone, Hydrocodone, Amitriptyline and Metoprolol. Blecch!

I’d like to begin with a plug for The Howdygram Store, okay? I continue to be prolific with new greeting card designs, creating an average of eight to 10 new cards every week and uploading the artwork files to my Zazzle store. I sell a lot of greeting cards.

Apparently Zazzle is promoting one of my products internationally right now… and it’s labeled as an EDITOR’S PICK*, which is huge honor for designers! During the last few weeks I’ve sold quite a few of these snazzy monogrammed abstract watercolor playing cards in New Zealand, Australia and Great Britain. Monogrammed playing cards are an adorable, affordable gift idea. You should buy a deck for yourself or somebody else … but wait until they’re on sale at 50% off. If you sign up for Zazzle’s promotional emails you’ll always know the best time to buy everything!
Zazzle defines an EDITOR’S PICK as follows: These designs get a gold star! Hand-picked by the trendspotting experts here at Zazzle, Editor’s Picks are some of the Zazzle products that really stand out from the crowd.

In case you’ve been sleeping under a rock and haven’t seen this in the news, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have a brand new ROYAL OFFSPRING! His name is Archie Harrison — Harry’s son, get it? — Mountbatten-Windsor, he weighs 7.3 pounds, and he was born on Monday, May 6. The world doesn’t know anything else about him yet, except I’m willing to bet he’ll be adorable as hell, have freckles like his mother, wear knickers until he’s 10 years old and own every cool toy God ever created. And as an added bonus, Archie will get to celebrate Christmas with the QUEEN OF ENGLAND! Holy crap!

This has been an unusual — and sometimes peculiar — day for all the reasons I’ll outline below.

TOO MUCH CHEST AND NASAL CONGESTION. For the last couple of weeks I’ve been coughing (like, a LOT), choking and having a hard time breathing altogether. Fortunately, the hospice pharmacy brilliantly sent me three prescription-strength bottles of Robitussin (much stronger than the OTC version), which really helps to suppress the coughing and wheezing. And along with the aforementioned wheezy lungs I’ve also got a killer nasal drip, nasal congestion and extremely watery eyeballs. I’m using FloNase once a day and Ayr Saline Nasal Gel every few hours (or as often as I remember). They’re not really helping my symptoms 100% but they’re still better than nothing, right? Please keep in mind that all of these symptoms are NOT compatible with wearing an oxygen cannula 24 hours a day. I hate it.

VERY LITTLE APPETITE. I’ve been “filling in” today with chocolate meal replacement shakes for diabetic senior citizens. Very tasty!

KA-THUMP, KA-THUMP, KA-THUMP. Tonight I’m having a scary situation with my heart rate. Every time I take an oximeter reading my oxygen is at the low end of the normal range (around 93%) but my heart rate is SKY HIGH … and right now it’s actually 110. That’s terrifying! I just woke Sam (he was in bed) to help me figure out what to do, and he taught me how to meditate, do some deep-breathing exercises, and my heart rate dropped from 110 to 78. Holy cow, I married a GENIUS!

HOME REPAIRS ARE GEARING UP. Our new central A/C system was installed a week ago along with a lovely new thermostat. Today we had a roofer walking around above our heads, taking pictures and planning labor and materials for our new roof, which is step one of the major repairs we need for 2019 hail damage. Other projects from the hail damage will include a new chimney, new rain gutters, new solar screens, restaining and repairing our cedar fence, and a new garage door. We’re practically getting a whole new house! Repairs are scheduled to begin a week from Monday, which is May 19.

I’m literally over the moon about today’s collection of free fonts! There are 19 of them, some available in multiple styles. I even love “Helvetica Now,” a new version of an old standby that includes three distinct styles (Display, Micro and Text) in a huge variety of weights with a coordinating oblique font. On MyFonts.com “Helvetica Now” sells for $1,680. (Seriously.) There are also several fonts here from Blambot, one of my favorite comic strip websites — “Chainsawz,” MechEffects One,” “Creative Block” and “Man Machine” — and an exciting variety of scripts and display fonts.

My favorites today include “Calista,” “Maveric,” “Nagamaki,” “Poligon Family” and “Negroni.” “Poligon” includes eight link styles plus eight sans serif weights with coordinating italics. If you want any or all of these for your personal collection I’ll provide download links after the graphic.

It’s 8:35 a.m. on Friday morning now, and I’m waiting for Dr. Wright, my visiting podiatrist, for nail trimming, toe scrapings for assorted skin biopsies and a general foot checkup. And I also have a regular Friday bathing and hygiene session with my hospice C.N.A., Leticia. Exciting, isn’t it?

Thsnk you for reading this.
