In the meantime, today is Saturday, and it’s 8:30 a.m. and nearly pitch black outside. We’re expecting a substantial period of rain overnight that doesn’t end until 8 a.m. tomorrow, which even includes several hours of thunderstorms rolling in around 7 p.m. tonight, none of that explains why it’s so dark out right now. We have seriously depressing weather!
Please allow me to fill you in on some up-to-the-minute events here at Howdygram headquarters, okay? Thank you for your interest.
I JUST REQUESTED MY ANNUAL ABSENTEE BALLOT APPLICATION. I usually do this every year in January, but this year I forgot. Truth be told, I can’t even remember if I had lunch today.
MONDAY IS “PRESCRIPTION REFILL DAY” HERE and also marks the first time all of my meds are due for refills on the same day. When you’re on hospice care your drugs are refilled every two weeks (seriously!), but mine got out of whack at some point so Sam has been trying to get them all back on the same schedule. He did it. He’s my hero!
MY FAVORITE GROCERIES, REVISITED. For your possible interest, here are my top five grocery products when I shop on Wal-Mart’s website. In addition, I’m also extremely fond of canned albacore tuna fish, Pepperidge Farm’s frozen Coconut Cake and Great Value (Wal-Mart’s store brand) New York-Style Rye Bread.
I BROKE MY EYEGLASSES ON WEDNESDAY. These are the cool new progressive trifocals I bought last fall from EyeBuyDirect.com. The left “temple” piece snapped apart close to the hinge … rendering them completely useless.
I used EyeBuyDirect’s “live chat” feature to report the broken glasses, and they made good on their free replacement guarantee. I only have to pay $5.95 for shipping! In case you’re interested, Sam found my old pair (same prescription) in a desk drawer in the study. Without them I’d be completely blind right now.
ENTERTAINMENT REVIEW. I thought I’d provide a list of the movies we’ve been watching around here. They include: The Blob (1958) starring Steve McQueen and Helen Crump (Aneta Corsat) from “The Andy Griffith Show”; The Spirit of St. Louis (1957) starring James Stewart; Union Pacific (1939) starring Barbara Stanwyck, Joel McCrea and Robert Preston; and the Bobby Darin biopic Beyond the Sea (2004) starring Kevin Spacey.

I’ve got four wonderful display fonts to share with y’all today plus a lovely brush script (“Sensation”) with a trendy bouncing baseline. Incidentally, in case you think “Twinkie Link” and “Twinkie Sans” are the same font, you’re slightly wrong. “Twinkie Link” has teeny little serifs; “Twinkie Sans” does not. Download links will appear below the graphic.
Thank you for reading this. I have nothing whatsoever to say about the Alamo today.
