SATURDAY, 12/29/2018, 9:06 P.M. Hey! Notice anything new and different, boys and girls? I was dicking around with the Howdygram tonight … and we have a new banner! A change was long overdue, as I was awfully fed up with the goony old cowboy graphic I’d been using for the last few years. So while our logotype remains the same, there’s a new cartoon now plus a few other “tweaked” graphic elements. I hope you approve. (If you don’t, please just keep it to yourself. Thank you.)
I’ve got a rather teeny font parade for you tonight … only three FREE FONTS for your possible interest! These include a playful little whatnot called “Pocket Serif” and two lovely signature-style scripts, “Danila” and “Balig Script.”
Two items of note. First, “Pocket Serif” also includes two adorable sans serif styles. (I already had these installed on my iMac.) And second, “Balig Script” is from a bundle that includes a substantial quantity of additional fonts, none of which I had any use for in any way whatsoever. However “Balig Script” was cool, so that’s the one I installed.
Download links appear after the graphic in case you want any or all of these for your personal font library. Okay?
It’s 10:30 Saturday night, and I’m feeling extremely jumpy. Extremely. Here’s why: 1) my ankles itch; 2) I’m hungry; 3) my ankles itch; 4) I don’t know what I want to watch on TV so I turned the damn thing off; 5) my ankles itch; 6) I wish Sam would wake up and refill my glass of iced tea; and 7) did I forget to mention that my ankles itch?
To tell you the truth I think the “itchy ankles” hoo-hah is a side effect of Azo, that over-the-counter drug I’ve been taking to relieve the burning pain from my urinary tract infection. There are a number of other potential side effects, too — little or no urination, loss of appetite, confusion, fever, yellowed skin, vomiting — all of which scare the crap out of me. And I’m sure this also explains why the package directions tell you not to use this drug for more than two days … period. No exceptions.
I’m sick of all the tumult in my life surrounding pain management, medicating my illnesses, shitty chronic infections and rather substandard medical care from my hospice team … which clearly has NOT been doing everything they’re supposed to do. (I’m really afraid I might be losing the fight at this point.) They’re fine with bathing and hygiene and they’re fine at stocking our closet with medical supplies (latex gloves, antiseptic, gauze, barrier cream, and so on) … but that’s about it. I’m ready to let Sam go to battle for me during our hospice conference call event on January 2. He’s so damn good at that!
Please stay tuned for additional information. Thank you.
SUNDAY, 12/30/2018, 6:21 A.M. Good morning! As I write this post Sam is preparing to drive over to our local Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market. We don’t need very much today … just a few essential Hot & Spicy Maruchan Bowls with Shrimp, which could be the best damn bowl of soup on earth … not counting Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom with saltines. This Maruchan product is a delightful, thrifty, super-speedy and tasty meal for senior citizens, containing actual miniature crustaceans and plenty of hot pepper for all of us “hot & spicy” aficionados. (I’m definitely a member of the club. I love hot & spicy.) You just add water, nuke the entire bowl and let it stand for three minutes. Woo-hoo! This is a delightful, immediate meal that makes your nose run!
For all of these reasons I’m thrilled to award Maruchan’s Hot & Spicy Noodles with Fetal Shrimp with the Howdygram’s coveted five-chopper rating. If you’re a housebound senior citizen like yours truly, CLICK HERE to order some from Wal-Mart RIGHT NOW. Please note, however, that the online price ($4.23 for three bowls, or $1.41 each) is considerably higher than what you’d pay in a Wal-Mart store (70¢ each) if you’re fortunate enough to have a person like Sam available to run a few errands for you at the crack of dawn. I had my first bowl of the day at 4:30 this morning.
Thank you for reading this. Let’s all do something weird to the Alamo today!
