Spending your life as a bedridden invalid doesn’t mean you’ll ever be comfortable or well-rested.

Good morning, boys and girls. It’s Saturday morning, 3:40 a.m., and I’m trying to find various ways to relax. I haven’t had any sleep yet because I’m feeling jumpy. My feet, legs and hands are zapping me with constant electric shocks, courtesy of diabetic peripheral neuropathy. (It’s like having “restless leg syndrome” all over my body.)

On top of that: 1) my knees are killing me; 2) I’m sick of being bedridden; 3) I’m having trouble swallowing food again; and 4) the hospice M.D. still can’t figure out how to write my damn Hydrocodone prescription.

I don’t know if I ever mentioned this or not, but hospice patients have to request prescription refills every two weeks (I’m not joking about this) … but whenever I ask for my Hydrocodone refill something about it is wrong. For instance, the refill I received last week was short by 30 tablets because the doctor changed the instructions for no reason whatsoever. He wrote the prescription for four tablets a day instead of six … and I actually got hysterical about it. DON’T FUCK WITH MY PAIN MEDS, YOU JACKASS!

All these aggravations really make my life difficult. I can’t deal with stress any more — or with disappointment, inconvenience, frustration or idiots — and my reactions are usually way out of proportion. I also have mood swings, my short term memory is shot to hell, and I’ve started feeling sad again even though the doctor increased my antidepressant (substantially) a few weeks ago. I don’t sleep well any more, either, not even with a strong sedative. Sometimes I don’t really sleep at all. (Or eat.)

REALLY, REALLY HOT TIP: Spending your life as a bedridden invalid doesn’t mean you’ll ever be comfortable or well-rested. Strange but true.

It’s my pleasure to share another amazing herd of FREE FONTS with you, this time showcasing some beautiful and versatile display fonts (“Dirty Martini,” “Fusion,” “Night in Milan”), some terrific scripts (“New York,” “Underland”), and even an excellent dingbat font that lets you create interesting backgrounds (“Seamless Patterns”). By the way, I can’t find a download link for “Fusion,” so if you want this font please shoot me an email and I’ll be glad to send a zip file. (You’re welcome.)

I created the following purple thing (see below) in order to demonstrate what can be done with the “Seamless Patterns" font. Not specifically mentioned in Step 2 is to repeat the pattern as many times as you want. For instance, in the example shown here I repeated that original pattern cube six times horizontally and three times vertically. Get it? Woo-hoo!

THE HYDROCODONE BROUHAHA. Last night I received a delivery from the hospice pharmacy in Fort Worth. Hydrocodone! They sent the 30 tablets missing from my last refill, but — no surprise whatsoever — the instructions were still wrong.

Holy crap, people … I JUST WANT MY DAMN PAIN MEDS. Is that too much to ask?! Unfortunately, there’s nobody with any authority I can whine to right now because the hospice administrator is on vacation until January 3, and the two R.N.s filling in for her don’t have too much leverage with the doctor. I guess I’ll have to wait a couple of weeks for Bea to get back after the holidays. O HOLY SHIT.

I’ve been busy this week snagging more free clip art and digital background images. If you see anything  here you’d like, please send me an email and I’ll be glad to share the files with you! Pictured below: 1) Glitter Sunset Colors and Inky Marble backgrounds; 2) Vintage Gold Marbles and Bright Watercolor Abstract backgrounds; and 3) Christmas Swirls clipart and hand-painted watercolor Christmas Gifts.

It’s time for sleep. Finally. Thank you for reading this and please try to remember the Alamo for a few minutes, okay? Those of us with short-term memory issues would appreciate this immensely. Ciao.
