Saturday’s highlight: An unexpected catheter change.

Jesus, what a day. It started normal enough, I guess, but eventually devolved into a pishing session multiple times every hour … and NOT into my catheter bag. I was lying in bed, peeing all over myself and making a complete mess of everything. We called my regular hospice R.N., Stella, who drove in all the way from Fort Worth to take care of me. Bottom line … I needed an unexpected catheter change, because an individual is NOT supposed to leak pee when she’s catheterized! Today’s experience was not a pleasant one (to say the least), so I think I’d better just move on. Thank you for putting up with me.

I’m always on the lookout for cheap yet speedy things to eat because I can’t stand on my feet to cook any more (or even get out of bed) and speedy food makes it easier for my personal chef, Sam. In my search for speedy ready-made food I ran across today’s featured product … the ubiquitous BANQUET CHICKEN POT PIE, which has been a constant staple in every supermarket freezer since the mid-1950s. But the old adage still rings true … you get what you pay for! Therefore I shouldn’t really be too surprised that a 78¢ Banquet Chicken Pot Pie turned out to be something seriously mediocre. Although the crust was flaky — even when you heat the pie in a microwave! — and might actually taste homemade, it’s the chicken that’s really at fault here. Banquet’s little mock-poultry cubes are hard as a rock with the texture of a radial tire. (Something to ponder … is it even chicken?) Everything else was tasty, though, including the “gravy” and the peas and carrots. I’ve always been partial to peas and carrots.
An interesting mix of wonderful and crappy. The chicken is as dense as a radial tire.

For all the reasons mentioned above I’m compelled to award Banquet’s Chicken Pot Pie with the Howdygram’s two-chopper rating. The chicken was the weak spot. For me it was inedible, but everything else was fine. I also liked the nice box.

A few days ago I accidentally ran across a couple of websites giving away FREE HIGH-QUALITY DIGITAL CLIPART. There are thousands of files to download, all of them in Adobe Illustrator format so you can edit and resize them. I devoted about five hours on Thursday and six more on Friday to downloading piles and piles —  3.74 GB, to be exact — of clipart, then unzipping, organizing and renaming the folders so I’ll always know what’s what. I was especially excited about the adorable illustrations, cartoons, doodads, frames, borders and interesting backgrounds … plus tons of fabulous Christmas-themed art for my holiday greeting card projects. A few examples appear below; I’ll include the website links, too. I feel inspired!

While Sam makes my dinner (Stouffer’s airline-sized single-serving spaghetti and meatballs) I think I’ll browse around on the DVR to find a good holiday movie. I’ve got a ton of stored movies!

Thank you for reading this. I love you all.
