As of today I’ve been home from the hospital for a whole week.

It’s Sunday evening, Sam is asleep next to me on the sofa and I’m watching Seabiscuit (2003) starring Jeff Bridges, Chris Cooper and Tobey Maguire. Seabiscuit is one of my all-time favorite movies. I love the story, I love the score, I love the narrator, I love the cast — William H. Macy as Tick-Tock McGlaughlin! — and I especially love the ending. If you’ve never seen Seabiscuit please do yourself a favor and stream it or rent it or download it … or whatever they’re calling it these days. Thank you.

Jeff Bridges and Elizabeth Banks in “Seabiscuit.” I love this movie.

In case you’re wondering, as of today I’ve been home from the hospital for a whole week … but I still haven’t been able to drag myself from the family room to the study! Problem is, I’m using a walker now instead of just a cane, and the walker isn’t steady enough when I have to cross the foyer on a stone floor. Therefore I’ll have to wean myself off the walker before I’ll have any luck with this. In the meantime, I miss sitting at my desk, I miss using my big desktop iMac and I definitely miss being able to design greeting cards for The Howdygram Store. That alone should be enough incentive, right?

Thank you for reading this. I think I’ll eat a few chips and watch the rest of Seabicuit now.
