I’m ready for referral to a pain management specialist, and the sooner the better.

Hi, hello, good afternoon, happy Thursday and how’s the family from your friends at the Howdygram! It’s a gorgeous spring day around here ... about 66° with sunshine and a slightly gusty breeze from wherever. Since I never leave the house except for a quarterly doctor’s appointment I guess I’ll celebrate the weather by migrating into the family room for a movie and a really nice nap. I’m considering something starring William Powell or Margaret Rutherford (they both made excellent nap movies) or The Rains Came (1939) starring Tyrone Power, Myrna Loy and George Brent.
I would also like to add that I’m having some considerable pain issues today. These include: 1) raw skin on the back of both thighs with leaking pressure sores; 2) plantar fasciitis in my left heel; 3) three hypersensitive toes on my left foot; 4) arthritis pain in both knees; 5) a headache; 6) a stiff neck; and 7) chapped lips. Items 1 through 4 will be the central focus of my April 6 appointment with Dr. M because I asked her in an email this week for referral to a pain management specialist, and the sooner the better. The meds I’m taking right now are basically useless — something like trying to kill an elephant with a fly swatter — and I need a drug that’s a lot more effective if I expect to regain a halfway normal quality of life and not start crying every time I stand up to walk to the bathroom. This actually happens, people.

I’ve only got two new fonts for you tonight, okay? I haven’t spent much time browsing around on BeFonts.com — the best free fonts website EVER! — due to an exceptionally long and delightful afternoon nap that ended around 7:30 p.m. So here they are, “Xplore” and “Freude Font,” with the requisite download links in case you want either or both for your own personal collection. FYI, free fonts are an excellent gift for Purim ...

The Howdygram is stunned to report yet another dead celebrity tonight ... actor and comedian Garry Shandling, who died today at the age of 66. In 1992 Shandling masterminded a hilariously successful brand with a self-inflicted phony TV docudrama called “The Larry Sanders Show” about an egomaniacal late-night TV host with a fucked-up private life. His co-stars included his emotionally needy announcer played by Jeffrey Tambor and his producer, Rip Torn. They were one of the funniest trios in television.

Los Angeles police said fire officials were called to Shandling’s home this morning for an undisclosed  medical emergency; he was pronounced dead by the time he arrived at the hospital.

I hate getting old. Every day there are more and more people my own age dropping dead. Oy.

Sam called a little while ago to tell me he’d be late coming home from work tonight, which leaves me with a couple of interesting options. One, I can continue writing the Howdygram, or two, I can design a few new products for The Howdygram Store on Zazzle. I’m getting into custom iPhone cases and throw pillows now. Yee-haw!

I’m leaning towards option number two, so thanks a million for stopping by tonight and say hi to the neighbors for me.
