Cherry pie and Greek olives … the perfect bedtime snack!

Yo, everybody.

I really didn’t expect to write a Howdygram post today, but I suddenly find myself with some free time after running head-first into an unexpected creative block. I was working on new designs for personalized iPhone cases but can’t quite get up enough “juice” right now to keep going. Maybe I should show you a few designs that I just uploaded to my online marketplace … The Howdygram Store on Zazzle.com. Here are six samples:
  1. Sparkly Flaked Gold Metallic. Also available in Copper and Rose Gold.
  2. Pink, Purple and Red Tropical Floral. Available in five color combinations.
  3. Apricot and Peach Floral on Mint Green Foil. Available in two styles.
  4. Soft, Feminine Floral Pale Pink Daisies.
  5. Sparkling Flame Orange “Disco Ball” Shimmer. Available in 20 colors.
  6. Magenta Leather with Coordinating Tartan Plaid. Available in 12 colors.

Practically nobody ever posts comments on the Howdygram, so I sincerely mean it when I ask you to share your suggestions, ideas, comments, brainstorms, clever remarks, corny jokes, wisecracks or lascivious thoughts of any kind whatsoever. Please don’t make me beg! Thank you.

First of all … surprise, surprise, surprise! About 10 minutes ago I decided to rename “Marcy’s Parade of Fonts” to “The Howdygram’s Free Font Round-Up.” There’s really no important reason for the change. I just felt like it, that’s all. (I know you’ll figure out how to deal with it.) And I also decided to add my favorite little cartoon Texas cowpoke (see illustration at right).

So here I am again with another herd of free fonts. This time I’ve got a swell collection of scripts (“Wilderness,” “Hipergiant,” “Muthiara”), display fonts (“Catfish,” “Perfect Love”), a standard text font (“Fenomen Slab”), hand-drawn fonts (“HITS Holiday Trio,” “Royal Rebel,” “Kickers”) and so on. They’re all winners.

Please note that “Wilderness” includes a mountain of fancy underscores and swashy things, “Fenomen Slab” is a fabulous super-font with 64 weights, styles and multiple widths for almost any purpose, and “Maloney” is a retro 1960s-style layered font with an extruded shadow. (I love layered fonts!) As always, download links will appear below the font list.

Yesterday in lieu of Chinese food I treated myself to three more fabulous collections of digital art from two of my favorite shops — Julie Campbell Designs and Digital Curio — on Etsy.com. All three collections were 50% off (about $1.50 each), and I got so excited I couldn’t control myself. It’s amazing how happy I get just spending FIVE BUCKS! (Welcome to my world, people.)

Since there’s nothing else I want from Etsy for the time being, today I’ll refocus on Chicken Egg Foo Young. Woo-hoo!

Earlier today Sam picked up the following grocery order from Wal-Mart. Here, for your possible interest, is what we bought:
  1. Individual three-inch Cherry Pie.
  2. Individual three-inch Lemon Pound Cake.
  3. Individual three-inch Cinnamon Crumb Cake.
  4. Mezzetta Pitted Greek Kalamata Olives.
  5. Chicken of the Sea Skinless Boneless Pink Salmon (two pouches).
  6. Armour Original Vienna Sausages.
  7. Stouffers Classic Stuffed Green Peppers, family-size frozen meal.
  8. Stouffer’s Classic Meatloaf, individual frozen meal.
  9. Great Value Beef Shepherd’s Pie, family-size frozen meal.
  10. Banquet Chicken Pot Pie, individual frozen meal.
  11. Birdseye frozen Steamfresh Asian Vegetable Medley.
  12. Birdseye frozen“Superfood Blend Chickpeas, Barley & Spinach.
Please note … items #1, #2 and #3 are absolutely to-die-for, they’re perfectly portioned for one person, and they only cost 50¢ each! In addition, #4 is a favorite current addiction, I like #6 with baked beans (it reminds me of my favorite hot lunch in grammar school), #7 and #8 are wonderful substitutes for homemade food (Sam doesn’t cook), #9 doesn’t taste anything like a real shepherd’s pie (which would be made with LAMB, not ground beef) but it’s filling and really cheap, #10 has been one of my favorite meals since childhood (and it’s only 78¢), and I’m trying #11 and #12 for the first time. Stay tuned for a food review in an upcoming Howdygram post, okay?

This might be a good time to wrap it up, have a snack — cherry pie and Greek olives! — and take a handful of pills. I’m way off schedule. I took my breakfast meds at 4:30 yesterday afternoon when I woke up from a 13-hour nap, I took my dinnertime meds at 11:30, and I’m ready now for my bedtime meds at 1 a.m. Nobody cares.

Holy shit. Thank you for reading this.
