All of a sudden there are intermittent problems with my computer. Also I just ran out of diet root beer.

Happy belated first night of Hanukkah and merry Christmas Eve. Don’t label me a grinch, but I’ve had more than enough of the endless holiday sales, once-a-year discounts and promotional emails, particularly from the eager marketing lunatics at Allegro Medical. I guess they figure nothing says “Merry Christmas” like a box of catheters!

For your possible interest here are some random middle-of-the-night babblings from Howdygram headquarters.

WE’RE FOGGED-IN RIGHT NOW. According to the “red alert” on our local news website, the temperature is 49°, visibility is less than 200 feet throughout the Dallas metro area and the fog probably won’t start to lift until mid-morning on Saturday. Plus it’s raining as I write this post and thunderstorms are expected to roll in around 5 a.m. This is shitty news for holiday travelers — especially if they’re flying — and I sure hope Santa is wearing galoshes. The weather here is sloppy, nasty and blurry.

I’M HAVING SOME MODERATELY-SERIOUS PAIN TONIGHT so I thought I’d scream about it by posting an up-to-the-minute Shit-O-Meter Pain Report. Mostly I’m having problems with pinching and burning skin on the back of my thighs due to diabetic neuropathy plus a mild headache that’s probably from the weather. Please click the “details” button (below) for more information. Thank you.
ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE ARE INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS WITH MY COMPUTER. These include InDesign and Photoshop locking up on me, my entire Mac restarting all by itself for no apparent reason, Creative Suite applications (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) taking FUCKING FOREVER to launch and assorted other quirky shit. All of this is manifesting itself just a few days after Half-Price Geeks was here to remove 25 viruses from my iMac and upgrade my OS from 10.7.5. to 10.9.5. I’m sure all of these issues can be traced back to the OS upgrade, mostly because I’m running a newer OS on an older iMac and you have to expect some incompatibility. Even so, it’s my plan to hang onto my computer for as long as possible or until I’m ready to blow my brains out. (This will probably happen in 2017.)

I’ve only got three FREE FONTS for you tonight, although it technically works out to a lot more than that when you consider the versatility of “Compotes” ... you actually get 10 completely different fonts, not 10 different styles or weights of the same typeface. Holy crap, right? I’ll include download links after the graphic in case you want any of these for your own collection.

And now I think I’ll drag my creaking bones into the family room and try to get some sleep. It’s 4:45 Saturday morning and I’m so tired right now I can’t see straight. Also I just ran out of diet root beer.

Thank you for reading this!
