Happy anniversary to the Queen and Prince Philip!

Before I do anything else I’d like to wish all of you a very happy — and very belated — Thanksgiving. I hope your day was filled with piles of food and mountains of gravy. THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH GRAVY. Seriously.
Thanksgiving at Howdygram headquarters was a total flop this year. Our Jennie-O turkey breast wound up RAW in the middle so Sam threw the entire thing in the garbage. We don’t know what happened. Sam followed the package directions to the letter and we baked it alongside a small Stouffer’s spinach soufflé, which turned out just fine. So … we compensated by substituting a can of Costco cooked chicken and smooshing it into the stuffing with a jar of mushrooms, and I made a pile of extra gravy. In addition, we enjoyed a pair of pies for dessert … one of them being sugar-free pumpkin for yours truly because I have diabetes.

My post-Thanksgiving treat this year? An Italian Beef Kit from Vienna Beef’s website! This includes two pounds of Italian beef, two pounds of gravy, four big crusty Italian rolls and a jar of genuine hot giardiniera. Oh my God ... REAL FOOD FROM CHICAGO! Incidentally, ordering directly from Vienna Beef costs a lot less than buying the same kit from Tastes of Chicago … and Vienna Beef’s shipping is a lot cheaper, too!

The Howdygram would like to wish a happy belated anniversary to the Queen and Prince Philip, who celebrated their 70th on November 20. What a milestone! They first met in 1939 when Philip was 18 years old and Elizabeth was only 13. Obviously they had a substantial acquaintance and courtship because they didn’t marry until eight years later.
If you want to send presents, their address is:

Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh
Buckingham Palace
London SW1A 1AA
England

I’m told they could use new kitchen towels and soup mugs. Thank you.

In my last post I mentioned I would contact my Medicare Advantage plan to find out if their optional dental coverage through MetLife would pay for charges from Elite Mobile Dental instead of a traditional dentist. Believe it or not, the answer is YOU BETCHA! ... except they’d consider Elite Mobile Dental an out-of-network provider and only reimburse the in-network negotiated prices for each service. I’d be responsible for the difference. I have no problem with this whatsoever, because I need six teeth extracted and a lower “immediate” denture, and if Met Life can cover half the cost Sam and I would be thrilled! (Even with insurance my dental work will probably set us back around $1,800.) Therefore, on Friday I’ll call my Medicare Advantage plan and sign up for MetLife dental coverage for 2018. It’s only $17 a month. Yee-haw!

Have you ever seen such a gorgeous collection of FREE FONTS? In addition to a traditional and sturdy serif font (“Minister”), today we’re featuring lovely scripts like “Antara,” “Atlantica” and “Made Good Time,” bold display fonts like “Motor City,” “Hatter Display Pro” and “Big Fish,” and a handful of creative fonts that don’t really fit into any category such as “Skyward,” “Alchemist” and “36 Days of Type.” I’ll include download links after the graphic. FYI, if you want “Made Good Time” or “36 Days of Type” you’ll have to request them directly from me via email.

I also have some interesting background textures and clipaart, beginning with these multiple shades of Rose Gold Pigments … I think they’re just gorgeous! I also have a new collection of Watercolor Flowers, and one dozen seamless paatterns in Black & Gold. Let me know if you want any of these files, okay?

It’s 9:45 Saturday morning and Sam just got home from a trip to Wal-Mart. He went yesterday while I was asleep, before I had a chance to give him my list. I asked for frozen Brussels sprouts, I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter spray, sugar-free Jell-O cups, barbecue potato chips, cole slaw, hamburger buns and Tater Tots. He bought everything! And tomorrow he’ll probably head over to Costco for our other favorites … teeny tacos, chicken flautas, frozen shrimp tempura, frozen shrimp toast, bagels, Cape Cod chicken salad and guacamole cups. All of a sudden I’m starving!

Thank you for reading this. If you haven’t remembered the Alamo lately please feel free to do so. And remind your friends!
