I’ve got some medical issues today. Also some Chef Boyardee mini ravioli.

Hi-de-ho and happy Friday! Sam is napping in the family room and I’m at my desk in the study with a nice hot Hormel Compleats Chicken Breast & Gravy with Mashed Potatoes, one of my favorite meals for housebound senior citizens who can’t stand up any more to cook things. This is actually a tasty little entrée and only costs $1.98 from Wal-Mart. Holy shit, right?
I keep three baskets on my credenza filled with all kinds of speedy microwave food. Aside from several varieties of Compleats, I’ve also got Chef Boyardee mini ravioli in microwave tubs, teeny servings of Kraft macaroni and cheese, Campbell’s Ready-Meals, Mountain House freeze-dried whatnots and Annie Chun’s white sticky rice. They all come in handy if Sam isn’t around to fix a meal for me or if I’m up in the middle of the night  horsing around with the Howdygram and I get hungry by surprise. However tonight for dinner I plan to make a huge batch of homemade egg salad because we’ve got a dozen peeled hard-boiled eggs from Costco.

I’ve got a fantastic stack of FREE FONTS for you today, featuring TWO BIG FONT BUNDLES with lots of exciting options for your creative projects. The Joanne Marie Bundle (see left column below) actually includes more than 60 fonts; I already had many of them installed (others were really ugly) so I decided not to picture them here. The Funtastic Bundle (top section of the right column) includes about two dozen pleasant fonts even though I only installed two: “Atlantic” and “Picture.”

My favorites are probably “Acron,” “Los Banditos,” “Hello Stranger” and “Retro Ricky Doohickies.” I’m also intrigued by “Lovingly Friends,” which includes 17 compatible fonts with multiple styles and layering options. I’ll include download links after the graphic so you can add all of these fonts to your personal collection. Just in time for Rosh Hashanah!

Please note that the “Royal Signage” font (see previous section) includes a large volume of free ornaments, goodies and design elements in Adobe Illustrator format so you can resize them, change the colors and so on. I love these! THEY’RE SPARKING MY CREATIVITY! Woo-hoo!

I’ve got some medical issues today. Nothing huge, I guess, but I’m not feeling totally normal and thought this might be a fine time to unload on you. My health complaints today include: 1) a screaming baby toe on my left foot from diabetic neuropathy; 2) pain in my left heel, also from diabetic neuropathy; 3) burning skin on the back of my left thigh; 4) severe hand cramps and occasional tremors; 5) a slightly elevated body temperature; and 6) weird urges to pee, often in rapid succession. For instance, I peed when I woke up this morning at 4:30 and had another huge urge again only 45 minutes later. Nobody should have to pee that often. NOBODY!

If anything gets worse I’ll call my nurse practitioner at the Baylor Housecalls program and she’ll come over lickity-split to take care of me. All of a sudden I’ve got the best goddamn health care in the world, people … MY MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS ALL SEE ME AT HOME! I’ve got another appointment with my nurse practitioner on September 26, and I’m also on the list to be seen at home regularly by an optometrist and a podiatrist. And if I need other specialists — probably a kidney doctor at some point — those will be home visits, too! I can hardly believe it.

While I’m on the subject ... tomorrow I’ll start taking Tramadol for the first time, which is a heavy-duty pain medication (NOT an opioid) that I will take alongside Hydrocodone for my chronic pain problems. After I take my first dose of Tramadol I want to “live blog” my thoughts and reactions so you’ll know how I’m doing. (I don’t want any side effects from this.)

Many thanks for stopping in this afternoon. Please try not to forget the Alamo, okay?
