North Texas is shrouded in dense fog tonight. I think we should order a pizza!

Hello and happy Saturday morning from Howdygram headquarters. It’s just past 3 a.m., Sam and Josh are both asleep, and I’m killing a little time until my bedtime meds kick in and knock me out. It won’t be long now. When I start drifting off, therefore, please feel free to stop reading and do a crossword puzzle.

I’d like to introduce you to the following awesome FREE FONTS ... three fantastic scripts, a fancy little display whatnot (“Vegacute”) with curlicue letters that will be perfect for greeting cards for The Howdygram Store, and a hand-drawn sans serif (“Adouliss”). I love all five of these! And here’s a hot tip about “Fabulous” ... you’ll get a fancy underscore swash (see below) if you type a “_” following the last letter of a word. Download links will appear after the graphic.

Yesterday Sam and our nephew Josh spent most of the day on the VIP Tour at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, a huge hoo-hah that included running all over the field, shagging footballs, make-believe touchdowns, visits to the owner’s box, the players’ and cheerleaders’ locker rooms, the NFL shop and more. Here are a few photos courtesy of Josh’s iPhone.
It’s a good thing Sam and Josh did the VIP Tour on Friday because the Cowboys don’t allow tours the day before a home game and there’s a BIG ONE scheduled for Sunday ... the Cowboys/Green Bay Packers playoff! They’re expecting a crowd of 100,000, not counting SRO sections on every level AND 20,000 more in the parking lot watching the game on a Jumbotron screen in the pouring rain. Sam, Josh and I will watch the game at home and order a nice pizza for dinner. Pizza and football! Yes!

Later this morning Sam planned to take Josh to the Choctaw Casino in Durant, Oklahoma, for lunch at the buffet — all-you-can-eat pea salad! great tartar sauce! real meatballs! sugar-free pie! — and a few hours horsing around with the penny slots. Unfortunately there’s one hell of an ICE STORM raging tonight that’s edging dangerously close to Durant, plus most of Oklahoma and north Texas are completely shrouded in REALLY DENSE FOG. Unless you’ve lived through weather like this before — Josh hasn’t; he’s from southern California — you really have no appreciation for how terrifying it can be to drive 90 miles on ice in heavy fog. When Sam gets up in the morning I’ll convince him to double-check and triple-check the road conditions in Oklahoma before he and Josh leave for the day. I don’t want a brain hemorrhage worrying about them! The following map indicates: A) Howdygram headquarters; and B) the Choctaw Casino in Durant, Oklahoma. The purple area denotes ice.

It’s bedtime now! Thank you for reading this and please remember the Alamo if it’s not asking too much.
